Prevention Advocates

Prevention Advocates is a program that equips Fraternity and Sorority members to lead sexual violence prevention efforts within their chapters and community. Prevention Advocates serve for one academic year and do the following:

Attend regular meetings to receive training on sexual violence prevention, trauma-informed facilitation, and supporting peers who experience sexual violence;
Facilitate workshops within their chapters on topics such as consent, supporting survivors, and bystander intervention; and
Advocate for changes in policies and processes within the community that will prevent sexual violence for years to come.

Prevention Advocates was started in 2021 and is led by Alicia Leizinger, Assistant Director of the Sexual Misconduct Prevention Program. Two student-employees, called Prevention Advocate Leaders, support the implementation of the program and assist Prevention Advocates in developing and implementing effective sexual violence prevention efforts within their chapters and the community.

Apply to be a Prevention Advocate for your Chapter!

Each chapter can have up to three Prevention Advocates. Applications open in the spring semester for folks to apply to serve in the role of Prevention Advocate for the following fall and spring semesters.
