- Equip you with the knowledge and tools to prevent, recognize, and respond to sexual misconduct, discrimination, and retaliation
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations while upholding our commitment to an inclusive environment
- Help create a safer campus community through prevention skill-building, education, and increased awareness of reporting mechanisms
- Support our shared responsibility in maintaining a respectful workplace
Training Details
- Duration: Approximately 60 minutes
- Initial Assignment: March 1, 2025 via Training Hub
- Completion Deadline: 45 days from assignment
- New Employees: Training assigned monthly after initial launch
- Assessment Components:
- Pre-assessment (sample of 2,500 employees)
- Post-assessment (30 days after completion)
How to Access Your Training
For Employees Assigned Training
- Check Your Email
– Look for an email from SMPP with instructions and a direct link
– The email will contain your Training Hub access information - Access Training Hub
– Go to Training Hub (https://training.umn.edu/)
– Log in with your University of Minnesota credentials - Locate and Complete the Training
– Click on "My Training"
– Find "Sexual Misconduct, Discrimination, and Retaliation Prevention and Response"
– Set aside 60 minutes to complete the course; you can start the training and finish it at a later time without losing your progress
– Complete all required activities and assessments - Confirmation
– You'll receive a confirmation email upon completion
– Your completion will be automatically recorded in Training Hub
For New Employees Joining the University After March 1, 2025
- Training will be assigned automatically on a monthly basis
- You'll receive an email notification when your training is assigned
- Follow the same steps above to complete the training
- Complete within 45 days of assignment

Who needs to complete this training?
All University of Minnesota employees, including faculty, staff, and student workers, must complete this training.
What if I've completed similar training before?
This is a systemwide initiative for 2025. All employees must complete this training, regardless of past participation in similar courses.
What if I find the content distressing?
If you believe you may have difficulty completing this course because you have been negatively impacted by sexual misconduct, discrimination, or retaliation you may contact SMPP at [email protected] to request an exemption or alternative format.
What happens if I miss the deadline?
- You'll receive follow-up reminders through Canvas
- Your supervisor will be notified of overdue training
- Weekly reminders will continue until the training is completed
- Completion is monitored and reported to supervisors
How long is the training, and can I pause and resume later?
Set aside 60 minutes to complete the course; you can start the training and finish it at a later time without losing your progress.
